Staff and volunteers cleared the raised beds in front of Zest and re-planted them with; Greek Cress, Radish, Chard, Red Russian Kale, Coriander, Rocket, Onion, Garlic, Broad Beans, Mint, Rosemary, Sage, Garlic Chives, Lemon Balm, Chives, Purple Sage, Salad Burnett, Golden Margarin, Lavendar and Thyme.

Behind Zest in the Upperthorpe Peace Gardens we have pruned some of the apple and plum trees. The main bed of overgrown rosemary was also cleared and replanted with; Ladies Mantel, Lavender, Golden Yaro, Loveage, Fennel, Rudbeckia, Cat Mint, Sweet Scilla, Elecampane and Marshmallow plant. There are also Rosemary plants still in the gardens.

Remember these are community gardens so you are welcome to come along and use some of these herbs for your home cooking. We have already picked the Greek Cress and Rocket which staff at Zest have enjoyed with their salads and there’s plenty more to go round!
